Senior Legal Counsel - Procurement
What you become part of:
As Senior Legal Counsel for Procurement you will work with the Associate Legal Director and the VP Legal within the Procurement Centre of Excellence in proactively supporting the Procurement team at CCEP on a variety of cross-border matters such as international contract negotiations with key suppliers, out-of-court dispute settlement, contract drafting, procurement strategies, digital platforms, monitoring and implementing changes in national and EU law, , trainings, as well as efficiency and standardization projects.
In this exciting position you will be reporting to the Associate Legal Director for Procurement and be part of the Procurement Centre of Excellence within the Legal team. You will have exposure to both legal and procurement leaders in CCEP as well as stakeholders within the wider CCEP organisation. As part of the Procurement Centre of Excellence you will also work with legal colleagues in the BUs to keep them informed of strategic needs and/or in developing commercial legal approaches.
What to expect:
• Supporting CCEP’s strategy and negotiations with international key suppliers and providing related legal advice.
• Supporting the development and implementation of legal strategies enabling CCEP to win and grow in a complex market context characterized by inflation, volatility, supplier consolidation, digitalization, , out-of-court disputes and settlements, and accelerated focus on sustainability and ESG topics.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating major agreements with key suppliers in a variety of areas such as ingredients, packaging, transport, warehousing, equipment, civil engineering, professional services, rolling materials, energy, etc.
• Supporting the Procurement Centre of Excellence in developing policies and guidelines around contract negotiations, keeping templates up to date, developing trainings, etc.
• Providing legal guidance to enable the Procurement teams to achieve their goals.
• Providing robust, clear and business-friendly legal advice on a variety of topics. Working as a trusted business partner, to influence strategic decisions and ensure all legal consequences and implications are well understood.
• Supporting or directly providing updates to the Legal and Procurement Leadership Teams on relevant legal, regulatory and other changes potentially impacting CCEP’s procurement strategy..
• Take a lead role in training efforts, to equip procurement colleagues with the legal tools that enable them to manage the business more effectively and shape the legal environment in which they operate to CCEP’s advantage.
• Possible interaction with TCCC and other bottlers’ Legal departments on international procurement topics.
• The role can be based in any of the EU territories where CCEP has operational activities. Occasional travels will be required.
Skills & Essentials:
• Good business acumen; ability to understand and foresee strategic issues for the business for today and tomorrow.
• Solid knowledge of contract law, both EU continental and common law.
• Strong business sense and problem solving mindset. No-nonsense, hands-on approach. Eager to provide best-in-class support. Being able to advise sensibly and to-the-point.
• Ability to adopt a risk based approach and advise with pragmatism
• Energy and passion, willingness to learn.
• Ability to build trust, be highly collaborative and responsive, prioritize and meet deadlines, and be a reliable business partner for the procurement and legal teams.
• Ability to exercise creative thinking and to define new and pragmatic approaches to problems.
• Self-awareness, a steady demeanour in challenging situations and comfort operating in a wide range of legal environments.
• Ability to act independently and without direction.
• Good communication, people and influencing skills.
• Robust drafting skills in English (contracts, letters, email, presentations, … )
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• Languages required: solid knowledge of written & oral English, including business and legal jargons. Any additional language spoken across CCEP territories will be a plus.
Required experience:
• A minimum of 7-10 years legal experience, working in a multinational company and/or law firm with experience advising on a wide range of topics in a transactional context.
