Wakefield Operations is the largest plant in CCEP and the biggest soft drink plant in Europe which produces about a third of GB’s volume across their 8 manufacturing, and 2 preform lines. The site can produce 540,000 cans per hour and 132,000 bottles per hour. What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, onsite your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a small team of lab analysts responsible for all microbiological and chemical finished product testing on site.
- Involvement and support as required in new initiatives programmes
- Drive Quality & product integrity
- Quality support to the operation
- To Supply quality and technical support to all areas to ensure the quality of our products is maintained to the required level

- Ensure the completion of all asset care tasks in line with site requirements
- Give technical support and supervision when required to complete maintenance & quality activities
- Advise and support site on issues concerning micro and product related matters
- Perform calculations when syrup corrections are required and investigate failures
- Perform lab and sampling tasks in a timely and effective manner
- Perform and set up sensory sessions
- Specialists in equipment calibration and Microbiology
- Perform plate prepping and reading
- Understand and assist in the process technical operator activities as and when required
- Ensure effective use of and the ability to problem solve on the quality & performance systems
- Take the lead in problem solving quality, micro & syrup make up issues
- Understand the operation of the process equipment

- Conduct QESH checks to ensure that product and equipment remains within specification and escalate any non-conformance immediately
- Involvement in Environmental and Health and Safety risk assessments as requested

- Follow Site Safety best practices to ensure safe-working for self and to protect the safety of colleagues to demonstrate zero accident behaviour
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments of planned work
- Ensure own personal hygiene meets requirements of food industry
- Carry out all pre-use inspections on machinery to ensure they are safe to operate

- Highlight any leaks and spillages
- Complete water treatment audits as required
- Escalate and reduce possible pest ingress
- Ensure waste is segregated in line with site policy
- Control energy usage in area and highlight potential saving

- Provide on-the-job technical training to maintain and increase understanding of micro, quality and GMP practises.

- Actively use quality monitoring systems in order to drive performance and rectify issues/non conformances

- Provide training and coaching to your team to improve their knowledge of micro, quality and GMP practises.
- As and when required operate machines to agreed level of expertise in process work area to assist in the making of syrups
- As and when required support all areas of site for quality issues
- Perform other tasks as required by the department to ensure team performance and manufacturing output are achieved
- Accountable for an effective handover, agreed locally as to content and format.
- Attend and support the delivery of shift team briefing sessions to ensure communication and feedback of key operational and site information

Skills & Essentials:
- University graduate with a degree in Chemistry or Scientific discipline is essential.
- An understanding of laboratory processes and associated risks
- Strong practical skills and common sense
- Ability to work hands-on and apply learned knowledge effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
