Operator – East Kilbride
6 Month FTC

Salary + Bonus + Pension Plan + Health Care + Flexible Working

What you become part of:
East Kilbride Operations produce 18million cases of drinks per year across their 6 production lines - 2 glass bottle and 2 PET bottle (plastic).,and 2 pouch lines This is the only site in GB that produces our Appletiser products in glass. There are over 165 employees on site and experience here can lead to excellent career opportunities both in East Kilbride and further afield across other GB sites and Pan-European locations.

What to expect:

Operate and maintain manufacturing machinery within work area/production line to ensure the machine achieves output required within quality, yield and waste targets to met shift Production Plans

  • Be capable of operating in a minimum of 3 work areas within the Manufacturing operation, (excl bottle blowing)
  • Perform machine start-ups and shutdowns as required to achieve line production plans
  • Perform basic fault-finding of commonly occurring faults and either fix or escalate to other Technicians until fixed to ensure minimal impact on line utilisation and availability
  • Ensure materials are available ready for use in manufacturing process and monitor and control material use to meet machine/work area yield targets for the shift
  • Ensure unused materials are returned to the dropzone for efficient RM/PM storage and inventory control
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping to ensure own work area is clean and tidy
  • Conduct basic asset care for machines within work area to the standard outlined in the Maintenance Execution Plan
  • Provide daily break cover for other team members
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Team Leader to ensure team performance and manufacturing output is achieved
  • Conduct effective machine handovers at the shift start including all necessary operational, safety, and quality issues
  • Attend and support the delivery of pre-shift team briefing sessions to ensure communication and feedback of key operational and site information
  • Share Best Practice with other team members and colleagues to improve Line Utilisation, Yield, Quality, Safety and Environment 
  • Actively use line monitoring systems in order to review performance and escalate issues/non conformances
  • Conduct on-line quality checks to ensure that product remains within specification and escalate any non-conformance immediately
  • Comply with Stock Checks/Held Stock procedures as required
  • Complete Environmental and Health and Safety risk assessments as requested
  • Monitor and control the segregation of waste material from that suitable for  recycling within own work area
  • Follow Site Safety best practices to ensure safe-working for self and to protect the safety of colleagues to demonstrate  zero accident tolerance
  • Ensure own personal hygiene meets requirements of a Food Factory
  • Carry out all pre-use inspections on machinery to ensure they are safe to operate
  • Take pride in upholding the agreed ways of working at the site to ensure the site is a great place to work
  • Take personal ownership and responsibility for the quality of own work delivered, and identify and action ways of improving it
  • Embrace teamworking and flexibility in tasks allocated to support the achievement of team/department/site objectives and own career development

Skills & Essentials:

  • Previous experience of working within a FMCG environment is desirable
  • Machine operation and/or FLT licence
  • Basic asset care of machines and fault-finding
  • Quality checks
  • Flexibility in hours/ Shift worker
