What you become part of:

Edmonton Operations produce 50 million cases of drinks per year across their 7 manufacturing lines. The site can produce up to 142,000 litres of drink per hour consisting of both PET and Glass bottling.  They are the only site in GB to produce our Oasis Drinks. There are over 200 people across Manufacturing, QESH and Engineering, experience here can lead to excellent career opportunities both in Edmonton and further afield across other GB sites and Pan-European locations.

In this key senior leadership role you will be responsible for leading the on-site engineering function to provide technical expertise to enhance manufacturing and distribution performance capability

What to expect:

To be successful in this role you will deliver in five key areas:

Technical Expertise

  • Manage quick resolution to manufacturing or distribution performance breakdowns to ensure customer service, safety or quality is not compromised
  • Provide site leadership on engineering, collaborating with the CI Manager and Centre of Excellence to ensure proactive identification of engineering based solutions to improve manufacturing and distribution performance
  • Collaborate with European Central Engineering and Technology to ensure best practices are deployed within the site and to seek expert guidance as required
  • Create a culture of effective cross-functional working on site to develop engineering capability and thereby enhance labour flexibility and engagement  

Maintenance Definition/Asset Care Programmes

  • Define the strategy for maintenance programmes/asset care programmes across the site to ensure equipment availability meets manufacturing and distribution demand
  • Provide coaching and expertise to the Manufacturing and Distribution Ops Managers so that the maintenance execution programmes are delivered as defined in the strategy
  • Manage spare parts stocks and availability to ensure spare parts are available for breakdowns and routine asset care programmes 
  • Manage the site facilities to ensure all assets are maintained in good working condition to ensure good cost control and adhere to country legislative and CCE environmental standards 

Utilities Management

  • Manage the efficient and effective usage of utilities to ensure good cost control and adhere to country legislative and CCE environmental standards

CAPEX Technical Management

  • Project manage CAPEX projects on time and within budget to deliver anticipated project benefits

Engineering People Leadership

  • Lead the site engineering team, providing the vision, direction and support to enable them to deliver their objectives and optimise and develop their performance in accordance with the L & D Programme
  • Demonstrate strong capability in building an inclusive culture and working effectively across diverse teams
  • Play a leadership role within the site, personally role-modelling behaviours and own performance required to achieve the site’s objectives 
  • Create a culture of effective cross-functional and flexible working on site (flexibility across lines & functions) to ensure labour flexibility to meet fluctuations in demand, create opportunities for career paths and cost-effective labour planning  
  • Review, assess and positively manage the absence levels within the team
  • Support and develop the performance of individual team members utilising performance management tools and techniques including the disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Ensure all inputs linked to changes to team members’ terms and conditions e.g.  pay, overtime wellbeing and welfare are made within specified timescales

Skills & Essentials:

  • Qualified Engineer (mechanical and electrical), likely to be of graduate calibre or very significant experience of apprentice-trained to a graduate level
  • Track record of “Chief Engineer” roles within food processing environments with volatile demand and complex KBI business – of which at least 5 years in a senior project engineer/asset care role with at least 10 years exp overall
  • Highly automated and sophisticated engineering environments benchmarked as World Class
  • Managing significant capex (new production lines, distribution centres) eg £10M + in capex
  • Designing Asset care strategies
  • Significant people leadership of the on-site engineering function
  • Track record of delivering performance improvement/equipment availability and utilisation
  • Ability to build relationships with Site Leadership Team (all members, in particular Manufacturing Operations and Distribution Operations Managers)
  • Must have strong external stakeholder management experience such as equipment manufacturers, equipment spare parts suppliers and engineering industry forums
