Sustainable Packaging, Director

Aim of role

Lead strategic and day-to-day work for CCEP’s Sustainable Packaging, focused on ensuring that CCEP is able to meet its short and long term commitments in full coordination with TCCC strategies and plans

Key responsibilities

  • Developing and continually enhancing the sustainable packaging strategy to achieve the system’s short and long term sustainability commitments and business goals
  • Leading the ABP for sustainable packaging to ensure one aligned approach to the goals across all CCEP territories and with TCCC’s World Without Waste vision
  • Developing and agreeing a common system Packaging Mix Vision to 2030  across all CCEP territories that delivers against consumer, legislative and customer trends
  • Driving current workstreams (100% recycled or renewable roadmap, packageless/dispensed, secondary packaging reduction, DRS implementation, aluminium & glass recycled content ) and developing new ones, as appropriate, aligned with the sustainable packaging strategy. Allocating accountability for delivery of all workstreams against a strong agreed action plan in all critical areas
  • Working with country leads to guide development of sustainable packaging strategies for local market implementation, ensuring consistency and alignment throughout the organisation and with over-arching sustainable packaging strategy
  • Aligning goals on carbon and sustainable packaging strategies and action plans. Supporting sustainability team to update LCA tool for products, including packaging and package-less (dispensed) formats
  • Developing key communications for ELT, CEO/CRS Boards, PACS LT, Sustainability Forum meetings. Managing packaging data for internal and external reporting towards goals
  • Providing subject matter expertise for the development of packaging communications & advocacy, working with the packaging communications lead & public policy centre
  • Enhancing governance to ensure the sustainable packaging voice reaches and is effective in driving action as needed in all parts of the business:
    • All CCEP Territories
    • Sustainability Forum with KO
    • ELT
    • IR
    • SPO System calls that bring together system sustainable packaging matter experts
    • SPO Country Packaging calls
  • Representing CCEP externally on packaging forums to drive awareness of our strategies and action plans with key opinion leaders. Identifying establishing and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders
  • Leading work to develop a common fact base in all key areas, building good internal understanding of data with internal stakeholders
  • Developing research to better understand the external expectations of consumers and stakeholders
  • Managing the sustainable packaging budget on a day-to-day basis, including forecasting and reconciliation

Skills

  • Broad expertise in sustainable packaging & wider sustainability agenda
  • Good understanding of key stakeholders and legislatives agendas in the sustainable packaging arena
  • Strong networking skills and ability and flexibility to drive complex agendas in multiple markets and functions
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate effectively and with relevance to senior audiences and to internal and external audiences
  • Ability to identify, lead and operationalise strategic packaging interventions
  • Ability to evaluate risk and mitigations both short and long term
