Business Development Manager

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

The role of Business Development Manager is to deliver long term financial growth from both existing customers in designated segment/s and drive new business through centralised agreements with economic buyers. Negotiation and strong business acumen skills are essential for this role, as is the ability to work at all times with a high level of professionalism and autonomy.

There are two key elements to this role. The first is to actively seek, identify, and convert new segment opportunities, along with reviewing and optimising the profitability delivered in those segments. You will work in collaboration with our internal operations team and support team to ensure newly acquired centralised customer contracts deliver a profitable long-term return.

The second and equally important element of this role is to manage an existing portfolio of national and large operational accounts. This involves actively reviewing their financial performance, manage and optimize their profitably, whilst working collaboratively with our operations team internally and customers externally.

Your ability to gain and share knowledge of competitor activities and strategies, pricing, client objections, and local market characteristics, is a valuable requirement for this role.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Deliver volume, sales revenue and channel contribution targets from highly profitable new business acquisition and existing customers.
  • Ensure compliance to the annual budgeted and S&OP financial targets from customer churn, bottle returns, payment terms and bad debts are adhered to.
  • Build and enhance customer partnerships through regular contact, gaining understanding of your customer’s business drivers, strategic plans, future trends and maximizing our retail profitability.
  • Communicate customer strategies and initiatives clearly, and in a timely manner, to relevant team members ensuring operational excellence and opportunities to generate greater demand are aligned with Marketing, NSC and Ecommerce teams.
  • Identify opportunities via the use of data and insights and ensure guidance to PGT and segment based tiered and menu based pricing guidelines.
  • Develop comprehensive prospect proposals and deliver compelling sales presentations to demonstrate to the potential customer the value of our bulk water product, water cooler, equipment and service model will have for their business.
  • Required to accurately manage CRM through Microsoft Dynamics to reflect all new customer opportunities, ensuring the new business pipeline is communicated through the S&OP process and will support the achievement of volume, revenue and channel contribution targets.

  • 10+ years of FMCG industry experience.
  • Proven experience managing an existing portfolio of customers driving superior financial performance.
  • Proven experience to develop prospects and convert to leads and deliver new business financial metric targets.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial levers which drive improvements in revenue management outcomes.
  • Strong record of successful delivery of tenders and management of contracted pricing and terms.
