Legal Data & Tech Project Manager

Job Purpose:
As a Legal Data & Project Manager, you will be responsible for the integration, implementation, and management of legal technologies. Your primary objective will be to drive technology adoption, optimize and streamline legal processes through the use of technology solutions, ensuring enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including legal colleagues, IT professionals, and vendors, to identify and implement appropriate legal technology tools and systems.

Main Responsibilities

Participate to the strategy development:

  • Collaborate with senior management to define the organization's legal technology strategy and priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging legal technology to improve operational efficiency, drive innovation within the legal department and facilitate the integration of the legal department and controls with wider business processes.
  • Conduct research and stay updated on emerging legal technologies, industry trends, and best practices

Technology Integration and Implementation:

  • Evaluate and select legal technology tools, software, and systems based on the organization's needs and requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation and integration of legal technology solutions, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions to ongoing operations. 
  • Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to configure, customize, and optimize legal software and tools according to the organization's workflows and processes.
  • Conduct testing, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing to ensure the proper functioning of legal technology systems

Project Management:

  • Lead legal technology projects from initiation to completion, defining project goals, scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal colleagues, IT professionals, and external vendors, to ensure project success.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, proactively addressing any challenges or issues that may arise during the implementation of legal technology initiatives.

Training and Support:

  • Develop training programs and materials to educate legal department personnel on the effective use of legal technology tools and systems.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance technology adoption and proficiency among staff.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users, addressing their questions, issues, and concerns related to legal technology.

Data Management and Security:

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the proper collection, storage, and management of legal data within technology systems.
  • Implement and enforce data privacy and security measures to protect sensitive legal information.
  • Monitor and evaluate legal technology systems' performance and data integrity, conducting periodic audits and implementing necessary enhancements. 
  • Translate legal data into insights and support legal analytics and reporting needs.  Help the legal function define and implement a KPI framework and automate reporting.

Main Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, computer science, information technology) is required.
  • Prior experience in legal operations, legal technology, or legal project management roles is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of legal technology tools, software, and platforms commonly used in the legal industry (e.g., document management systems, e-discovery software, contract management systems, case management systems, privacy technology).
  • Familiarity with emerging legal technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and blockchain, and their applications in the legal field.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders and drive change within the organization.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities to identify inefficiencies and propose technology-driven solutions.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory compliance requirements, including data privacy and security regulations.
  • Familiarity with legal processes and workflows to effectively align technology solutions with the organization's operational needs.
  • Experienced in business partnering in complex cross functional multi-territory matrix environments
