Senior Commercial Planning Manager (Sydney)

Role Purpose

This role owns the Australia Commercial Planning Cycle, ensuring enterprise strategy is translated into a clear, prioritised and executable commercial plan across the 12-month horizon, while building planning capability over a 3-year roadmap. It governs the planning architecture, calendar, forums, decision rights and cross-functional inputs required to align Sales, Marketing, RMGM, Finance and Supply Chain around clear commercial priorities, trade-offs and execution commitments.

This is a unique opportunity to define and lead a critical enterprise capability. You'll have significant visibility across the Leadership Team and play a central role in shaping how the organisation makes decisions, allocates resources and delivers growth.

This is a permanent role based in our North Sydney head office. 

Key responsibilities

  • Own and govern the Australia Commercial Planning Cycle, ensuring enterprise strategy is translated into prioritised and executable commercial plans.
  • Establish and lead the Commercial planning rhythm, governance structure and decision-making forums.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Commercial Development teams.
  • Facilitate strategic trade-offs, investment choices and prioritisation decisions.
  • Provide governance and planning oversight for Commercial "Big Bets" and priority initiatives.
  • Ensure planning forums are decision-focused, action-oriented and outcome-driven.
  • Identify risks, dependencies and barriers to execution, escalating when required.
  • Build the Commercial planning capability roadmap and continuously improve planning processes, tools and governance.
  • Champion the use of AI, automation and modern planning practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with executive leaders to strengthen planning discipline and execution readiness across the organisation.

  • Internal: Australian LT, Commercial VPs, General Managers of Category & Insights, Enterprise Strategy, RGM, Finance and Supply Chain 
  • External: brand partners 

About you

. 

You're a strategic planner and influential business partner who can operate confidently at executive level while driving practical execution outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in commercial planning, commercial strategy, strategy execution or business transformation within FMCG, consumer goods or a complex matrix organisation.
  • Demonstrated success leading annual planning cycles, governance forums and cross-functional prioritisation processes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic ambition with operational execution.
  • Experience building planning frameworks, governance models and executive-level decision-making processes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability across senior leadership groups.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to create executive-ready materials.
  • Experience working across multiple functions to align priorities, investments and delivery commitments.
  • Exposure to planning, workflow, collaboration or business intelligence technologies.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, with certifications in Agile, Lean Six Sigma, PMP, PRINCE2 or similar considered advantageous.
