Nick's story

"I knew I was gay throughout my career in the armed forces, but it was still illegal to be openly out and serve. I continued to hide my sexuality when I came to CCEP for fear of acceptance and career implications. It’s not as unusual as you might think: up to 41% of people who identify as LGBTQ+ go back ‘in the closet’ when they start a new job.

The thing is, coming out every time you start a new job is hard work. The longer you spend time adjusting your language – such as saying ‘my partner’ instead of ‘my boyfriend’ – the harder it can be to open up.

Thankfully, CCEP has an ‘everyone’s welcome’ philosophy, which allowed me to feel more comfortable in my skin. It’s about making sure everyone can bring their authentic self to work. I now identify as a gay man, and I want to support this agenda – which is why I joined the #JustBe network of volunteer Inclusion ambassadors."

Natasha's story

I started intermittently dipping in and out of the Rainbow Network about four years ago and then over the last few years I’ve become a lot more involved with the Network and volunteer as Recruitment lead.

As a network we are trying to raise awareness and encourage as many people to get involved – you don’t have to identify as being a part of the LGBTQ+ community… we love and need support from allies! You can also get involved with as much or as little of the activities/meetings as you wish.

Being involved with the Rainbow Network has enabled me to learn and grow – it has opened the doors to new development opportunities, from leading teams, to collaborating with different parts of the business and presenting to a range of audiences. It is always a talking point in internal interviews!

Michelle's story

I joined the Rainbow network as have family and members of my team who are from the LGBTQ+ community, I have always been an ally and I wanted to support and learn more about what the network do. Since joining I have met some amazing people, widened my network across different business functions.

I had the opportunity to work on a project as team lead to deliver a lunch and learn which was a first for me and gained experience in project management with lots of support from my colleagues in the network, we have regular catch up calls and share ideas on how to educate & support our colleagues at CCEP.

Overall I have grown in confidence, worked on my presentation skills, worked as part of a team and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Rainbow network

Pride

At CCEP, we take pride in who we are. Gender and sexual orientation aren’t just accepted—they are respected and celebrated. We foster an open, compassionate environment where conversations about identity, compassion, and awareness are encouraged. That’s why our Pride celebrations continue to grow and evolve each year, reflecting the inclusive culture we’re proud to uphold at CCEP.
