After spending much of her career in relationship manager roles, including 12 years at the Chamber of Commerce, Shelley never thought of herself as a salesperson. But in 2019 the opportunity arose for an Area Sales Manager position at another beverage business – she took the leap into sales and has not looked back! Shelley joined the CCEP family in 2020 and loves that she can apply those relationship building skills to her current sales role, enabling strong partnerships with her customers to drive wins and create friendships along the way! Our local Sales training, Women in Leadership program, and some inspiring leadership has seen Shelley to go from strength to strength as she navigates the swings and roundabouts of the sales world here at CCEP.
Describe your role in five words or less…
Licensed Sales manager, based in Whangarei
How long have you worked at CCEP NZ?
3 years
What do you love most about the role?
CCEP has so many opportunities for their staff to learn and grow in their roles. The support network is second to none. We are truly valued as employees. And I love my amazing customers!
What are the challenges?
Being part of the Central North Island team (office in Hamilton) but based in Whangarei means I can be isolated from my actual team. I also have a large territory to cover, from Kaiwaka to Kaitaia, so sometimes I travel 6.5 hours in one day! But the Whangarei bunch are amazing and I am very lucky
Do you have a favourite #onlyatCCEP moment?
Winning the Licensed Sales rep award in 2022 and again in 2023, along with Supreme Award.
What's the favourite thing about your career?
The people and no one day is ever the same. It’s challenging and rewarding at the same time. You are constantly pushed and it’s such a multi-faceted role.
What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
Believe in yourself (and buy a beachfront property)
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Doesn’t suffer fools
What gets your out of bed in the morning?
The thought of helping people, whether it be in their business, friends, or community.
What's your beverage of choice?
Bati Spriced rum and zero sugar coke, yuuuuum
Finally, tell us something no one else knows about you?
My husband and I won lotto in 1997. We were part of a syndicate that won first division. Not a huge amount, but a great start with our first home which we had purchased 3 months earlier.
