Quality Co-ordinator Samah Rafiq had an action-packed day visiting Wembley Stadium in October for this year’s Diversity & Inclusion LIVE! Event. No wonder, given there were over 1,000 FMCG professionals attending. Together, they joined forces to inspire change through keynotes, panel discussions and mentoring in a D&I day like no other.
Praising the event, Samah explains: “It was an honour to have been in the room with people who share the same passion of driving positive change in our industry and building an environment where everyone can bring their true authentic selves to work. Starting the conversation is the first step to creating an inclusive environment and today was exactly that!”
Alongside the industry speakers was George the Poet, who wrote and performed a bespoke piece for the event. “Every single speaker was truly amazing,” says Samah. “I cannot express how inspirational it was listening to the panellists today.”
Our VP Field Sales, Caroline Cater, certainly agrees: “The mentoring program gives people the opportunity to get external input into their development or their career. People have really enjoyed getting that external view – somebody who’s able to help them and be objective to their business.”
As one of the 40 industry partners supporting Diversity & Inclusion in Grocery, we’d like to congratulate the GroceryAid team for putting on such a wonderful event. We’re confident it will encourage diversity at more conferences in the future.
